Tending the fields of humanity...A Labor of Love?
62
If you are one of those people who frequently wishes there was MORE that you could do for the less fortunate, near and far. If you find yourself saying, "Lord, how much more?" Or, " God I feel like I'm not even making a dent in the world as it is today... Please give me the ability to help those who are hurting or lost or self medicating or.... then odds are... Your motive to serve humanity, to serve GOD, is a labor of love! The task at hand is not for the armchair, Sunday morning pew warmer... Odds are, the task at hand has been and is being birthed by the inhumanity and suffering that is ever present, at every turn, in every corner of the world. Yet through it all...Life, including the injustices that constantly make the headlines...LIFE...Is a gift! And having lived the life that you have lived, (so far), as a "Spirit filled" Christian, The Spirit IN YOU, can be the "gift giver!"
You are among "the remnant" whom God has raised up, "For such a time as this!" Remember, we are foreigners on this planet...This is not our home... We're only here for the length of a vapor in time and we can only do that which God enables us to do at any given time with any given situation. He judges the heart...the motives of the heart, not how much you were able to do, but how much you are prepared to do, and why! What is the motive? For some people the motive is recognition...VANITY! PRIDE... SELF PRAISE AND RECOGNITION, but for people who have decided that they have been born and are here for a reason... A reason beyond just pleasing the flesh, more than just getting 'stuff' and filling the holes with possessions. For people who have actually stopped, (usually by unction of the Holy Spirit) and noticed that their neighbor is depressed or hungry, scared or just plain LOST,the motive is COMPASSION!
Assuming for a minute that the latter is you. You weren't born more compassionate than the next guy. You didn't develop compassion because you've had life handed to you on a silver platter. You didn't cultivate compassion because you've never been exposed to the lost, hurting, confused souls that surround you so you feel for those less fortunate, No, you have the degree of compassion that you do BECAUSE of what you've seen and in fact DO SEE on a regular basis.
"All things work together for the good to them who love the Lord and are called according to His purposes!" (Ro. 8:28) ALL THINGS! and that includes having to watch the atrocities and live with the pain of not being able to fix everything that needs fixed, feed everyone who needs fed, clothe everyone who needs to be clothed. As a person who is filled with the Holy Spirit through Jesus as YOUR savior what you can do is SHOW THEM THE LOVE OF JESUS!
"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own" (1 Cor. 6:19)
God is ultimately in control of ALL things! Don't stop believing! NOT NOW!!! NOT THIS FAR INTO THE TIME LINE! Life is a gift and life on this planet is a better place for having you in it! Don't forget that...Everything you do, in the name of the Lord, has EVERLASTING consequences weather we get to see the results in this life or not...WE WILL SEE THE FRUIT OF OUR LABOR, especially when it's a labor....OF LOVE!!!

SPOT ON my best friend...
May I add... if you have COMPASSION then it is a GIFTED TALENT..!
Do not bury it, find ways of investing it, even by only declaring the need, your are placing it in the bank that it should grow interest. And by declaring it is not of yourself, but is of God... the interest is then compounded..!!!
PREACH IT, DEAR BROTHER..!
Wow, Roger, I wonder if God isn't saying the same thing to all of us...I have been thinking so much of the work of the Holy Spirit the last week or so.
I appreciate the injunction to "Not stop believing!"
Hi Roger, I am very new here, but I wanted to take a minute to tell you how much I appreciated your words. How very true! God bless you and have a very blessed Christmas

Well said brother! Those of us called to this labor of love will shout for joy, "we get to do this!"
